The charge that the Israelis were using disproportionate force against the ‘homemade projectiles’ was in vogue with our liberal friends. This charge is not as popular now because the left has moved on with the ever admired apartheid and occupier meme.

Israeli, while not so much using disproportionate force, were certainly using disproportionate technology against the ‘homemade projectiles’ being lobbed out of Gaza. After the projectiles landed in Israel, the Israelis were sending in gunships, capable of killing thousands, to retaliate against one or two terrorists.

This so-called disproportionate respond has been a total failure, as we see years later. The bombing of Israel from Gaza still continues to this day. The ‘disproportionate’ response from Israel has been totally ineffective.

My idea was that Israel should respond with a proportionate response. Instead of carefully going after the bombers with million dollar gunships using pinpoint accuracy, Israel should set up their own mobile bombers. Every time a bomb was lobbed from Gaza, an Israeli bomb should be lobbed into Gaza. Since one of the characteristics of the Gazan bombs is no guidance system, the Israeli bombs should not have guidance systems either. If their bombs hit an apartment building housing hundreds, so be it. If their bombs hit the fancy new shopping mall in Gaza, so be it. If one of their new restaurants by the seashore is destroyed, too bad. But better then these targets, if an hamas house was hit, then good for Israel.

My idea never made it to the Israeli government. Too bad, it would have worked.

SarahSue

P.S. Regarding those ‘homemade projectiles’ sure they were homemade, in the home monition factories of Russia.sheltiebreederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06652020657143677215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29566846.post-73488036276739673202011-05-18T01:24:38.573-07:002011-05-18T01:24:38.573-07:00Arius,

Perhaps a more apposite example was 911, where following the Spanish governor in my quoted article, we would have first asked the Saudi royalty to put a stop to the terrorists; and after their predictable denials, we would have started to bomb Riyadh, Medina and the desert around Mecca; etc.

Nobody,

Yes, the Saudis have been playing that double game for decades, where profit and proselytization go hand in hand with our clueless poker hands holding nothing but a joker and a pair of deuces at best.Hesperadohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10394374828751466705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29566846.post-53079340155009254122011-05-18T00:13:28.020-07:002011-05-18T00:13:28.020-07:00That Spanish governor was a genius. His name deserves to be highlighted as an example of how to get it done!

About your concluding comment, one thing that has always struck me is how Saudi Aramco - which is listed as the world's largest oil company - is so interested in proselytizing Islam, which does not contribute in any way to the company's profitability. Only explanation being that it's owned by the Saudi government.Nobodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15936731686633423188noreply@blogger.com
