VJS and Virginiatechism
The ongoing unfolding of the metastasizing revival of an Islam Redivivus manifests ever new permutations and subsets of the overarching desideratum of Islam: eschatologically motivated supremacist expansionism.
To keep up with these permutations and subsets, it has been necessary to coin new terms, such as Islamorealism, Islamonausea, asymptotic analysis vs. holistic analysis, Sudden Jihad Syndrome (SJS), among many others.
Along with SJS, we may think of adding VJS—Voluntary Jihad Syndrome. Where SJS is the spontaneous psychological combustion of a Muslim who vents his traditional Islamic hatred for Infidels, which he carries around as generalized mental baggage, by suddenly going postal one day, the VJS is more specific: it relates to a Muslim individual (or individuals) who, directly or indirectly inspired by a specific call to action by agitating Islamic clerics or terrorists, takes it upon himself (or themselves) to go out and kill some Infidel voluntarily. Such seems, for example, to have been the case with the pair of Muslims in Somalia who last year shot a nun in the back three times, thus murdering her, as the specific and dutiful response to the call by a Muslim imam in a mosque sermon in Mogadishu for Muslims to go out and kill Christians to avenge the “insult” of the Pope’s lecture that caused indignation and menacing protests from Muslims world-wide.
The other day, reported on July 31, a passenger—as yet unidentified by authorities—on a Greyhound bus in Canada stabbed a fellow passenger approximately 50 times then with the same large knife proceeded to behead that passenger. He then held the severed bloody head up to show it to other passengers (presumably in the process of frantically fleeing). On July 7, an al Qaeda cell issued an on-line call for Canadians to kill Infidels. Coincidence? Or was this stabber and beheader a Muslim acting out VJS? We know that multiple stabbing and beheading seem to be common, indeed traditional, behaviors of Muslims engaged in their murderous frenzy of variously enacting the repeated injunctions, in the Koran and in mosque sermons utilizing both the Koran and the Sunnah, to kill non-Muslims.
To pick one example out of a fez, there was the atrocity in Turkey in April of 2007 when five Muslims held three Christian Turks (two of whom had converted from Islam) for hours, beating, torturing and stabbing them to death: according to this report, a human rights group, the International Christian Concern (ICC) reported that the three victims—a German Christian named Tilman Ekkehart Geske (age 45) as well as two Turkish Christians, Necati Aydin (age 35) and Ugur Yuksel (age 32)—
. . . were “disemboweled, and their intestines sliced up in front of their eyes. They were emasculated and watched as those body parts were destroyed.” The group added that “fingers were chopped off” and “their noses and mouths and anuses were sliced open” as part of what it called “satanic torture.” It added that “possibly the worst part was watching as their brothers were likewise tortured. Tilman was stabbed 156 times, Necati 99 times and Ugur’s stabs were too numerous to count.” Finally, their throats were sliced from ear to ear, and their “heads practically decapitated,” ICC said.
While it is not known whether these five Muslims were inspired by any specific call to murder Infidels, it is reasonable to assume they did so motivated by the more generalized and amorphously murderous hatred with which Islam is saturated—for, as this source reports:
A note left at the scene read: “This should serve as a lesson to the enemies of our religion.”
As for my other term—Virginiatechism—this denotes another phenomenon as part of a subset of the overarching War between Islam and the West that is slowly unfolding (and still denied to exist among most Westerners): namely, the tendency for Western reporters to downplay, or even suppress investigation into, the Muslim angle on any given crime and/or atrocity that might have such an angle, as seemed to have been the case with the shootings at Virginia Tech in April of 2007. (Another major case in this vein was the slaughter—again involving gruesome stabbings and mutilations—of a Coptic Christian family, including two young daughters, in New Jersey in January of 2005; a family whose father and one daughter had received death threats from Muslims both via the Internet and in person. The Muslim angle of this case was, and remains, virtually non-existent in the press.)
The fact that authorities have not given out the name of the assailant in the most recent grotesquely ghoulish—yet unremarkably Islamic—murder on the Greyhound bus raises red flags of an attempt at cover-up or at best under-the-rug-sweeping. Imagine if that murderer’s name were “Abdullah” or “Rashid” or “Fareek” or “Mohammed”, or even an innocent-sounding “David” whose anglicization might conceal a recently adjusted “Dawood”: that might be a reason why authorities have been reluctant to release the name.
Update: According to this report, the beheader on the Canadian Greyhound bus was named Vince Weiguang Li. So he cannot possibly be a Muslim, right?
