Muslims overrun hospital in Sydney, Australia?

A story has been making the rounds of a few blogs, about an incident at the Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, where allegedly last month, over 100 Muslims took the emergency center of that hospital hostage and police had to be called in. Apparently, this charming bit of Third World hysteria was triggered by a Muslim patient being mistreated by hospital staff. Among the purported mistreatments: the normal medical procedure of drawing blood to check for drugs, alcohol, or other toxins, in order to facilitate diagnosis and treatment—the drawing of blood being one of the 1,001 things that are insanely “forbidden” according to Islamic law.

Now, we know that, for example, Jehovah's Witnesses also forbid the drawing of blood; but you will never find, either in the annals of history or in current news, any of them taking a hospital hostage over their equally silly religious principle.

Anyway, as there has been no reportage in any news sources to date on this incident, I sent off a polite e-mail approximately 24 hours ago (late morning Monday, Australian time) to Michael Sugrue, Director of the Trauma Department at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, New South Wales. I did not even mention the “M” word. I just asked him whether or not the incident had happened.

So far, he has not replied.

Here is his email, if any readers wish to contact him:
