The problem of "Stealth Jihad" in a nutshell.

My last post on the concept of Stealth Jihad was, because of the nature of the concept, complex.

As a result, one crucial fact about the problem it presents could have been easily overlooked by the reader:

Stealth Jihad has been helped, not hindered, by the increase in Islamic terrorism in the post-911 years.

The fact I just typed above is, of course, eminently counter-intuitive. It also goes against the grain of the concept of Stealth Jihad as that concept has been constructed and articulated by those who use the term (not the least of which being Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald of Jihad Watch).

For, according to the architects of the concept, Stealth Jihad is—to paraphrase von Clausewitz and turn his famous aphorism on its head—“merely the continuation of war by other means”. And those “other means” depend for their effectiveness on deceptively seeming to be peaceful and harmless. The reader can now see clearly why the fact I typed above is blatantly counter-intuitive: How is it possible that a strategy that is centrally dependant upon the appearance of peaceful intentions, could in fact be facilitated by violence?

Nevertheless, my point is that it has been indeed so facilitated: In the last seven years since 911—during which terrorism attacks (and plots of attacks that were foiled) have increased in quantity and severity; during which violence by Muslims has increased world-wide; and during which the supremacist bellicosity of public expression by Muslims has increased world-wide—we have seen Stealth Jihad increase throughout the West, where logically it should have been more and more limited.

This counter-intuitive and perversely paradoxical phenomenon, of course, is mostly due to the mainstream dominance of Politically Correct Multi-Culturalism (PC MC). According to the reigning paradigm of PC MC, Islam and the vast majority of Muslims must forever be inoculated from all suspicion or blame whenever Muslims perpetrate anything bad in the world, and whenever Muslims express anything that is supremacist, intolerant, hateful or bellicose. A closely related axiom in the PC MC paradigm is that any substantive criticism of Islam and of Muslims raises immediate red flags of “bigotry”, “intolerance”, “hate” and even “racism” and must therefore not be permitted in the light of public discourse. A third important axiom in this paradigm reveals more a psychological feeling than a formal proposition: namely, the semi-conscious admission that the mountain of horrible deeds and expressions by Muslims in the news, throughout history, and in their core beliefs manifested in their foundational religious texts, triggers in us the rational counter-response of criticism, indictment and condemnation of Islam—a counter-response that threatens to overturn the first axiom noted above (the one that protects Islam and the vast majority of Muslims). Worse still in the mind of the PC MC person, our slowly dawning awareness of the menace of Islam threatens to elicit in us a darkness of evil leading to major crimes including genocide—an evil that the PC MC person, in his cultivation of a morbidly excessive self-criticism about his own West, thinks is ever capable of bursting out (especially against non-whites) unless we vigilantly constrain it.

With a semi-conscious anxiety, the PC MC person knows, in the back of his mind, that Muslims are getting worse in the post-911 world, and the PC MC person shares, deep down, the ominous dread following inexorably from the logical conclusions this anxiety and half-suppressed knowledge raise. And it is precisely this semi-conscious anxiety and dread that causes the PC MC person to go deeper into denial: each new terrorist attack arouses in the PC MC person the perversely irrational response of digging in his heels to defend Islam and Muslims even more. And since the PC MC person represents the dominant and sociopolitically powerful mainstream, this has boosted the project of Stealth Jihadism tremendously in the post-911 years.

Whether, and to what extent, Muslims engaged in the vast and complex strategy of Stealth Jihad are aware of the unwitting and witless collusion of Western PC MC in their strategy, it is difficult to tell. It is reasonable to assume that a certain number of more clever Muslims have slowly realized how stupid most Western Infidels are, and are more or less intelligently exploiting that stupidity.

Diametrically contrary to a simplistically intuitive shibboleth repeated by Hugh Fitzgerald of Jihad Watch, the most intelligent Stealth Jihadists will have recognized by now that a combination of terror attacks, amorphous violence and criminality, threatening language, and generally bellicose supremacism expressed publically by Muslims actually helps, rather than hinders, their larger strategy—as long, that is, as they keep a loose rein on the violence in order to keep it below a threshhold beyond which the severity would be so horrific and widespread, it would likely serve to break even the irrational stupidity of PC MC, thereby to awake the stupidly slumbering West and provoke it to a rational, and victorious, response against Islam.
