A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
The other day, a friend I hadn't seen in a while asked me, as soon as I got in his car. "Well, anything new? Any headlines?" (He proceeded to tell me that he meant "headlines" in one's life, meaning anything new and fairly momentous in one's personal life.)
I didn't tell my friend how, in the past few days, I had lost my hope & faith in Western Civilization, a hope and a faith I'd held dearly and for the last 14 years had worked tirelessly to share in the context of doing my small part to help rally the West to its defense against the global rise of Islam.
Instead, I just shrugged my shoulders, looked out the window at the partly cloudy sky, and gave my stock answer, "No, nothing much."
More to come...

Hey, Hesp! Buck up! It is darkest just before the dawn! Besides, you are supposed to be my foil - the optimist to my pessimist! If you become a pessimist, then I shall be forced to be the optimist!
Although you may resist this idea, to stay sane, you MUST place your faith in the Christian God - who created Western civilization via earthly agents.
It is God who saves people.
It is God who will save civilization.
Even as a disbeliever, you are an agent of God if God so desires.
But, you will be happier and more peaceful if you trust in God.
Now, what do you think about THAR?

I think perhaps that you need to read some Theodore Dalrymple quotations:
'Rome wasn't destroyed in a day.'

Make sure that you keep selecting more comments because the list continues:
'It is precisely the aspiration towards universal truth, towards a God's-eye perspective on the human condition, that is the hallmark of Western culture.' -Theodore Dalrymple
'To regret religion is to regret Western civilization.' -Theodore Dalrymple
So Hesp, you need to MORALLY articulate to yourself who you are fighting for, what you are fighting for, and why you are fighting?
What will be YOUR fortitude and bravery?!
In Italy in World War II, my grandfather faced bullets, bombs, deprivation, and starvation from lack of supplies - in addition to loneliness and uncertainty of when the war would end.
In the Vietnam War, my father faced similar circumstances.
Comparatively, a little criticism is simply that - a little criticism.
'Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.'
You MUST change your focus from yourself to your mission (to achieve as an agent of God).
You are an important mind (and soul). Know it and move on now - fully immune from petty unproductive criticism.
Jeremiah 29:11
NIV: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
KJV: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Egghead, I don't make this move lightly. I'm assessing the situation. The bleaknness of the situation is not my fault.
